Salvadoran Spanish

¡Qué chivo! That was great

Talking about a good day, being short of cash, or asking about the kids? These three words help you follow along.

Good times
Had a great time? ¡Qué chivo! gets that across. In a conversation about something you enjoyed, chivo is a compliment.
Money
Ando sin pisto means you’re short of money. You’ll hear pisto used this way in El Salvador and nearby places too.
The kids
Los cipotes están jugando means “the kids are playing.” Cipote and cipota can refer to a child or young person; who’s being talked about helps you read it right.
