Puerto Rican Spanish

¿Vamos a janguear?

Someone’s asking if you want to go out. Here are a few words you might see as the plans come together.

Going out
¿Vamos a janguear? is an invitation to go out and have fun. Think “want to hang out?” when a friend sends it.
Money
No tengo chavos para eso means “I don’t have money for that.” In a Puerto Rican conversation about plans, chavos is the budget, not the people coming along.
A little
Ask for un chin when you only want a little, like a splash of coffee. You’ll hear this one in the Dominican Republic too.
